Brief Profile of the Department


The Department of Mathematics is a highly reputed Departments which functions with excellence as its motto. The Department was started in the year 1959 along with other Engineering and Science Departments and has established itself as a dynamic center for academic and research activities. In addition to the teaching of courses in Mathematics for B.Tech. and M.Tech. Programs service courses, institute level PhD and minor course, the Department offers two P.G. Programs, M.Sc. (Applied Mathematics) and M.Sc. (Mathematics and Scientific Computing) and one Integrated MSc (Mathematics) program. The department offers PhD degree and at present, 42 Research Scholars are working for their Ph.D.

About Prof. Y. N. Reddy


Prof. Yanala Narsimha Reddy, born on 9th October 1958 has obtained B.Sc. in 1980 from Osmania University, Hyderabad and M.Sc. in 1982 from REC Warangal. He has obtained Ph.D. in Mathematics from IIT Kanpur in 1986. He had served at BITS Pilani for 3 years and at NIT Nagpur for 3 years. He joined REC Warangal in 1992. Then he was elevated to the position of Professor in 2003. His research area is Numerical Analysis and published 116 research papers in the reputed International journals and guided 12 Ph.D.'s. He has visited USA and UK. He is a Member Board of Studies of several NIT’s and Universities. Prof. Reddy has served as Head of the Mathematics Department for 2 times, Registrar of NIT Warangal for 2 times and presently Dean, Faculty Welfare. He was awarded the BEST Faculty Award in 2016.




About NIT Warangal


The National Institute of Technology (formerly Regional Engineering College), Warangal, established in the year 1959, is the first among the 31 NIT’s in the country setup as joint venture of the Government of India and the state government. Over the years the college has established itself as a premier Institution imparting technical education of a very high standard. It is located on the Hyderabad – Warangal National Highway at a distance of 3 kms from Kazipet Railway station and 12 kms from Warangal Railway station. Participants are advised to alight either at Kazipet or Warangal depending upon the train of travel.

About APTSMS


The Andhra Pradesh Society for Mathematical Sciences (APSMS) was found three decades ago with initial efforts of Late Prof. N.Ch. Pattabhi Ramacharyulu, the then Professor of Mathematics, Regional Engineering College, Warangal, and Prof. P.V. Arunachalam, the then Professor of Mathematics, Sri Venkateswara University, Thirupathi, & Former Vice Chancellor, Dravidian University. Since its inception, the APSMS has grown in size and important. It has been successively and successfully organizing its annual congresses, providing a forum for research workers, young and old, to present their finding and for reviewing the state of the art in their specialized areas of Mathematical sciences besides bringing together academics for camaraderie and intellectual interaction. APSMS has been renamed as APTSMS (Andhra Pradesh Telangana Society for Mathematical Sciences) in 2018. This is only organization of its size devoted to Mathematical Sciences




About Warangal


Warangal is about 135km from Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana. It is well connected by rail and road. It is well known as an educational centre. Once, the capital of the great Kakatiya Kingdom and earlier known as Orugallu or Ekasilanagaram, Warangal still retains its importance as the cultural centre of the Telangana. It finds an important place in the tourist map of Telangana with sites of archaeological significance like the Warangal fort, Thousand Pillars temple, Bhadrakali templeand Ramappa temple. The three lakes namely Ramappa, Pakhal and Laknavaram and the wild life sanctuaries at Tadwai and Pakhal are famous for sightseeing.
